The Corner-Cutter® is designed to remove lead-based paints, radioactivity and other hazardous contaminants from both steel and concrete surfaces in an environmentally safe manner. Pentek developed the Corner-Cutter to scarify walls, joints, ceilings, stairs, girders, pipes, and other areas which are inaccessible to our MOOSE® and SQUIRREL®-III surface preparation products.

The Corner-Cutter® operates on the same principle as a pneumatically operated needle scaler. Specially hardened needles operate within an evacuated stainless steel enclosure which prevents the escape of dust, debris and airborne contamination to the environment. Standard shrouds are provided with each unit to allow the cutters to conform to inside corners, outside corners, and flat surfaces. Special shrouds are available to conform to particularly odd geometric shapes, such as door and window frames. The Standard Shroud Set (P/N: X-009) includes 1 each of:

The Corner-Cutter® incorporates unique vacuum flow design features which provide high-efficiency performance in contaminated or clean room environments that require stringent control of loose material. Users will find that the Corner-Cutter® eliminates the need for the respiratory protection from radiological and toxic particulate hazards.  It also eliminated the need to erect tents or temporary protection enclosures.

The Corner-Cutter’s lightweight, low reaction forces and infinitely adjustable vacuum enclosure minimize operator fatigue and provide for comfortable operation in any position. The ergonomic design of the operator’s handle provides complete operator control and is equipped with a quick-release-to-off safety feature. A depth adjustment feature controls the cutting of cementitious surfaces.

Cutting Needles:
  • 2mm diameter steel needles (flat top), best used to remove paint from steel and prepare the surface to SSPC specifications for the application of coating systems
  • 3mm diameter steel needles (chisel point), best used to clean and prepare concrete for coating or new concrete application, and removal of thick marine and nuclear grade coatings
  • 3mm diameter copper-beryllium needles (flat top), best used for reduced sparking applications in some explosive environments
  • 4mm diameter steel needles (chisel point), best used to resurface brick and other fired materials

Air Consumption

5 scfm @ 90 psig. Unit requires a 1/2-inch diameter air supply hose.

Vacuum Flow

To ensure adequate containment of dust/debris/contamination, the user must supply a minimum 50 scfm vacuum source at the 1 1/2-inch diameter vacuum hose connection. The unit will interface with Pentek-designed VAC-PAC® self-cleaning HEPA filtered vacuums or other high capacity, industrial quality vacuums.
